Athos House

Hood River, Oregon

The site of this house is nestled in a dense forest at the top of a ridge in the Columbia River Gorge. The complexity of the topography required the house to be broken into a series of individual buildings connected by fully glazed and enclosed walkways. The resulting design affords various opportunities to experience the surrounding landscape from different points of view. The multiple structures helped to reduce the overall scale of the project while giving a sense of a cluster of cabins in the woods.
