Owl Creek Cabin

Snowmass, Colorado

The project is a 4,400 square foot vacation house in a small ski community near Aspen, Colorado. The goal was to maximize views of the surrounding mountains, optimize natural light and provide a distinctly modern interpretation of a ski chalet. The choice of materials throughout gives the feel of a traditional cabin even though the overall design is contemporary. A prefabricated structural roof system made from glulam beams and tube steel form a triangular grid to create a exposed roof system. The two story structure’s roofline follows the slope of the hillside in order to minimize the overall mass of the building.
