Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the William Penhallow Henderson House in Santa Fe has both the interior and exterior registered as historic.  A 1,000 square foot master suite wing was added to the back of the house and sunken into the landscape to fit with the informal character of the house and not detract from the existing historic structure.
